This blog was designed to provide a forum for my 8th grade Earth Science students at Homer Jr High School. Students were given the address and encouraged to participate in the blogging process but none chose to do so.

Unexpected vacation day
It seems strange to be sitting at home with the sun shining and warm temperatures of today. But, no electricity =no school for Claiborne Parish today!

You Matter!!
I recently had to do something that I would have given anything to not have to go through. A student that I had taught 2 years ago committed suicide. This student was a member of my 9th grade son's high school baseball team and seemed to be a well adjusted normal 17 year old kid.
The student had gotten in trouble at school and was suspended from the baseball team. He went home and killed himself that afternoon. I found out at our son's baseball game what had happened. The coach had to tell his team right at the end of the game. What makes anyone feel that things are so hopeless that suicide is the answer?
I wish there had been something I could have noticed or seen or done.
Rest in the peace of God's love BG.
